Journey at a Glance

Experience Namibia on a luxury small-group safari designed for depth, stillness, and connection, where wildlife and some of the darkest skies on Earth come together in one unforgettable journey.

This is not a typical Namibia safari. You will track desert-adapted elephants and endangered black rhino, explore Etosha National Park, and climb the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei. What sets this journey apart is what happens after sunset.

In the NamibRand Nature Reserve, one of the world’s premier dark sky destinations, you will witness the Milky Way in extraordinary clarity, observe nocturnal wildlife, and reconnect to a night sky most of us have forgotten exists.

Joining the journey is TerraFauna’s first TerraGuardian, Megan Eaves-Egenes, a Lowell Thomas Award-winning travel writer and leading voice in dark sky advocacy. As editor of DarkSky International’s Nightscape magazine and founder of Dark Sky London, she offers insight into the night sky, light pollution, and why protecting darkness matters.

Throughout the journey, expert local Namibian naturalist guides bring each landscape to life through deep knowledge and lived experience.

Rooted in conservation, access, and perspective, this is Namibia experienced fully, by day and by night.

The TerraFauna Difference: Why Your Journey Matters

Meet Megan Eaves-Egenes

This journey is enriched by the presence of Megan Eaves-Egenes, a Lowell Thomas Award-winning travel journalist whose work explores the intersection of landscape, culture, and the natural world.

An astronomy enthusiast and passionate advocate for dark sky conservation, Megan brings a rare perspective shaped by years of global exploration and storytelling. As editor of Nightscape magazine with DarkSky International and former editor at Lonely Planet, her work has appeared in publications including BBC, National Geographic, and AFAR.

Throughout the journey, Megan will guide moments of reflection and discovery centered on the night—helping you understand not just what you see above, but what is at stake below. Drawing from her forthcoming book Nightfaring: In Search of the Disappearing Darkness (2026), she illuminates how darkness shapes ecosystems, influences wildlife behavior, and is increasingly at risk around the world.

Whether gathered beneath Namibia’s vast skies or in quiet conversation by the fire, Megan brings depth, context, and meaning to the experience—transforming stargazing into something far more powerful: a deeper awareness of our place within the natural world, and our role in protecting it.

This evening offers another opportunity to experience the desert after dark.
