Journey at a Glance

Argentina Rewilded is a 9-day immersive journey through northern Argentina designed for travelers who seek depth over speed and connection over consumption. Limited to just eight guests, this highly curated itinerary moves intentionally through three extraordinary ecosystems: the cultural pulse of Buenos Aires, the vast grasslands and lagoons of the Esteros del Iberá, and the mist filled rainforest surrounding Iguazú Falls.

In Iberá, step inside one of the most ambitious rewilding initiatives on Earth. Walk beside conservation biologists from Rewilding Argentina as apex predators return to landscapes where they once roamed. Track maned wolves across open savanna and witness how restoring one species reshapes entire ecosystems.

In Iguazú, stand at the edge of cascading waterfalls that vibrate through your body, then shift inward. Engage with jaguar conservation leaders connected to the Yaguareté Project. Spend meaningful time with the Mbya Guaraní community, learning ancestral plant medicine, traditional cooking, and forest cosmology from those who steward this land.

This is not a highlights tour. This is slow, immersive travel designed to protect biodiversity, honor Indigenous knowledge, and support local communities. You return home not only having witnessed Argentina’s wild north, but having participated in its restoration story.

The TerraFauna Difference: Why Your Journey Matters

Itinerary

  • Arrive in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s vibrant capital where European elegance meets Latin American rhythm. After a private transfer to your boutique hotel in Palermo, settle into one of the city’s most creative neighborhoods.

This afternoon is intentionally open. Wander tree lined streets, explore independent designers, or relax in a shaded plaza with a coffee in hand. Slow travel begins here.

In the evening, gather for a private welcome dinner celebrating Argentine culinary traditions. Learn to fold empanadas, explore the ritual of yerba mate, and connect with your fellow travelers. You’ll also meet your local TerraFauna guide who will accompany you throughout the journey, offering insight and continuity as you move from city to wetlands to rainforest.

    Overnight: Krista Hotel, Buenos Aires
    Meals: Dinner

  • Day 2 | Into the Iberá Wetlands & Night Safari

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight north to Corrientes Province, gateway to the Esteros del Iberá. As the city gives way to grasslands and marshes, you transition into one of South America’s most significant conservation landscapes.

Continue by road into the Iberá Wetlands, a vast mosaic of lagoons, palm savannas, and native forest spanning more than 12,000 square kilometers. This is the second largest wetland system in South America and a global model for rewilding.

Check into Rincón del Socorro, a conservation driven lodge operating in partnership with Rewilding Argentina. After an orientation to the Iberá restoration initiative, head out after dark for a guided nocturnal safari. Caiman rest along the water’s edge, owls glide silently overhead, and beneath wide starlit skies the wetlands reveal an entirely different rhythm.

    Overnight: Rincón del Socorro
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 | Wildlife, Gaucho Traditions & Community

Wake to birdsong across the Iberá savanna and set out with naturalist guides to explore restored grasslands surrounding Rincón del Socorro. Iberá is more than a wetland. It is a living mosaic supporting capybara, marsh deer, caiman, and hundreds of bird species.

Later, experience the landscape on horseback, moving slowly across open savanna in a tradition rooted in Argentina’s gaucho culture.

In the afternoon, glide by boat through the Esteros del Iberá, where hyacinths drift past and jabiru storks rise from the reeds. Continue to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini to see how rewilding and ecotourism have created new economic pathways for local families. Today builds the foundation for tomorrow’s deeper immersion into Iberá’s rewilding story.

    Overnight: Rincón del Socorro
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 | Rewilding in Real Time with Conservation Leaders

Today, step fully into one of the most hopeful conservation stories in the world.

Begin with interactive discussions led by biologists whose work traces back to The Conservation Land Trust and continues through Rewilding Argentina. Learn how former cattle lands became protected habitat and how species reintroduction is reshaping the Iberá ecosystem.

Visit ocelot pre release enclosures to understand the careful strategies behind predator recovery. In the afternoon, head into the field to track a GPS collared maned wolf across open savanna, witnessing conservation in motion rather than theory. By day’s end, the scale of restoration feels tangible and deeply hopeful.

    Overnight:Rincón del Socorro
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

*Accommodations may vary slightly, but you’ll be updated along the way.

  • Day 5 | From Iberá Wetlands to the Atlantic Forest

Depart Iberá and travel north toward Argentina’s subtropical frontier. A combination of road transfer and flight carries you from open wetlands into the lush Atlantic Forest of Misiones Province.

Arrive in Iguazú and check into Glamping Selva Iguazú, a locally owned and operated jungle retreat designed for immersive stays within one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth.

In the evening, gather for a conservation talk connected to Proyecto Yaguareté, learning how jaguar protection strengthens the fragile Atlantic Forest biome. The energy here is different. The forest hums. Tomorrow, you encounter Iguazú Falls.

Day 6 | Iguazú Falls & Regenerative Agriculture

Enter Iguazú National Park, Argentina’s UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to one of the world’s most powerful waterfall systems.

Walk the Upper and Lower Circuits for sweeping views and close encounters with cascading water. After lunch inside the park, board the ecological train to Garganta del Diablo, where the roar builds before revealing a thunderous curtain of water plunging into mist below.

Optional for those seeking adrenaline, the Great Adventure boat excursion offers a thrilling approach to the base of the falls.

Later, return to your jungle retreat for an agroecology experience. Walk tropical gardens with the resident agronomist and explore how regenerative farming restores soil health, protects biodiversity, and honors ancestral knowledge in Misiones Province.

    Overnight: Glamping Selva Iguazú
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 | Birdlife & Sacred Guaraní Traditions

Begin with guided birdwatching along Route 101 in Iguazú National Park, one of the richest habitats in the Atlantic Forest.

In the afternoon, join a community led immersion with the Mbya Guaraní. Walk forest paths while learning about Guaraní cosmology, explore medicinal plants, participate in traditional manioc based cooking, and engage in craft traditions that carry memory and resilience. Conclude with a symbolic planting and closing ritual led by a community spiritual leader.

In the evening, gather at the Mirador Deck overlooking the Paraná River for a lively three course dinner featuring live cooking and regional flavors, a joyful celebration of culture, connection, and shared experience.

    Overnight: Glamping Selva Iguazú

Cross into Brazil for a panoramic perspective of Iguazú Falls inside Parque Nacional do Iguaçu. From this vantage point, the full sweep of waterfalls reveals the interconnectedness of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay within the Atlantic Forest.

Return to Argentina for time to reflect before boarding a private boat along the Paraná River to the Triple Frontier, where three nations converge. This final afternoon invites perspective on the journey itself.

Your farewell dinner is celebratory and communal, honoring the connections formed with Argentina’s flora, fauna, and people, and with one another.

Your TerraFauna Guide

Natalia Mufato | Argentina Guide & Biologist

Natalia Mufato is a biologist by training and a nature guide by calling, with more than 20 years of experience connecting travelers to Argentina’s most dynamic ecosystems. From the Atlantic Forest of Misiones to the landscapes of Patagonia, and now the Iberá Wetlands she calls home, her work invites presence, curiosity, and care.

What makes this journey truly exceptional is that Natalia accompanies the group throughout the entire experience, providing continuity, depth, and expert insight. Her presence is not limited to a single excursion. She is your naturalist and interpreter across wetlands and rainforests. This full-journey guidance is a rare value in small group travel and ensures that every wildlife sighting, cultural exchange, and ecological transition is understood within a larger story.

A longtime collaborator with Rewilding Argentina, Natalia has contributed to species reintroduction and ecological restoration efforts, including the return of jaguars, giant otters, and macaws. Through her ecotourism initiative, Discover Yvera, she blends environmental education with immersive guiding, helping guests understand not only what they see, but why it matters.

With Natalia leading the way, you do not need to think about logistics or context. She anticipates the rhythm of the land, interprets animal behavior in real time, and shares the science, history, and cultural layers that transform observation into understanding.

For Natalia, guiding is more than interpretation. It is a way to foster belonging between people and place, and to ensure that each traveler leaves with a deeper relationship to Argentina’s wild north.
